Deepak Sharma heads the M&A practice and the Financial Sponsors Group at Axis Capital. He is responsible for both the strategic and operational aspects of the firm’s overall advisory business, including senior level relationship management, new business development and overall client delivery oversight.
During his long career, he has been involved in transactions involving a diverse mix of leading Indian corporates, multinationals, financial sponsors, and government organizations. Having started his career with Arthur Andersen, he has subsequently been a part of global Financial Institutions like Lazard and Rabobank. Immediately prior to joining Axis Capital, Mr. Sharma was a senior banker at Lazard’s Mumbai office for more than a decade, where he led the firm’s activities for a wide range of sectors including industrials, infrastructure, building materials, energy, and natural resources.
Deepak is a recipient of the Roll of Honor from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta and is an Electrical Engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
He is an avid reader and enjoys unwinding with light music.
